What Does Chartered Financial Planning Status Mean?

Chartered Financial Planning Status

Our accreditation as Chartered Financial Planners sets us apart from many other companies and advisers – but what does it actually mean?

The Personal Finance Society explain:

“Chartered status is a symbol of technical competence. It demonstrates that you are at the forefront of your profession and serves as a mark of trust with consumers, employers and business connections.

The Personal Finance Society is a Chartered body of more than a century’s standing, the Chartered Insurance Institute grants Chartered titles to individuals and organisations that meet strict qualifying criteria.

Chartered status is a symbol of technical competence and signifies a public commitment to professional standards.

Setting you apart

Holding the Chartered Financial Planner title will help ensure that you are recognised as such by your peers, your employer and, most importantly, by those seeking advice. Independent research confirms that the public places huge importance on talking to a professional; it also confirms that ‘Chartered’ is the most respected indicator of professionalism. Here’s how Chartered sets you apart:

  • Differentiation – you will join a prestigious group of members at the forefront of the profession
  • Specialised knowledge – you will develop your technical knowledge through study towards CII level 6 qualifications
  • Acknowledged professionalism – Chartered status provides parity with other professions, reinforcing your credentials
  • Chartered status is recognised and respected by consumers as a mark of trust”

Chartered Financial Planner of the Year – Kate Gannon

In October 2016, Kate Gannon achieved the highest accolade given to a Chartered Financial Planner in the UK, winning Chartered Financial Planner of the Year from the Personal Finance Society.

The award was presented to Kate at a ceremony in London by Rory Bremner and Keith Richards who was appointed Chief Executive Officer of the Personal Finance Society in May 2013.
