What Does Chartered Financial Planning Status Mean?

What Chartered Status means for you

At Themis Wealth Management, our Chartered Financial Planning status is one of the clearest reflections of the standards we set for ourselves and the trust our clients place in us.

Chartered status represents the highest level of professional achievement within financial planning, awarded only to firms and individuals who meet rigorous technical, ethical and ongoing professional standards. It is recognised throughout the profession as a mark of excellence, integrity and trusted advice.

For you, this means the reassurance that your family’s financial future is being guided by a firm committed to expertise, discretion and the highest professional standards.

But beyond technical excellence, Chartered status reflects something even more important: our commitment to wise counsel, thoughtful judgement and advice shaped entirely around the life behind your wealth.

A Profession Built on Trust

For founder Kate Gannon, Chartered excellence has been a defining thread throughout her career.

In 2016, Kate was awarded Chartered Financial Planner of the Year by the Personal Finance Society – one of the profession’s most respected individual honours.

That commitment to professional leadership has continued. Kate went on to join the Board of the Personal Finance Society in 2025 and became Vice President in September 2025, reinforcing the confidence the profession places in her judgement, leadership and standards.

Her appearance on The Martin Lewis Money Show in December 2025 further reflected the trust placed in her expertise by both the profession and the wider public.

Personal Finance Awards Winner

Chartered Financial Planner of the Year – Kate Gannon

In October 2016, Kate Gannon achieved the highest accolade given to a Chartered Financial Planner in the UK, winning Chartered Financial Planner of the Year from the Personal Finance Society.

The award was presented to Kate at a ceremony in London by Rory Bremner and Keith Richards who was appointed Chief Executive Officer of the Personal Finance Society in May 2013.

This is an award that you have to undertake many tests and interviews for and is not given out lightly. As of May 2016 there were 36,000 members of the Personal Finance Society of which just over 5,000 were qualified to Chartered Financial Planner status.

Kate is very proud to be a handful of people in the UK that has achieved this award. You can read more about it on the PFS Website.
